The Benefits of Local SEO and Why Your Business Needs It
A local SEO strategy is a core of marketing strategy for local businesses, but it’s not one that many new businesses can take full advantage of. Often, it’s only seen as the silver bullet in terms of marketing because it focuses on keywords that your visitors are more likely to type into search engines.
That’s not to say that it doesn’t work, just that it’s not something that most internet marketers focus on, unless they’re doing it solo. Of course, there are other aspects of a search engine optimization strategy that you should know about if you’re new to marketing online. When I use the term “SEO,” I’m referring to search engine optimization, which is the whole process of using keywords in search engine results pages (SERPs) to help a website to rank better in the search engines.

They don’t focus on this aspect until after they’ve already built their website or service. And so, there’s very little opportunity for local businesses to create a website that will do well with local search engines because there aren’t many local search engines.
But there is a way to do both local SEO and search engine optimization which will create both benefit for your business. It’s called contextual advertising, and it is changing the way that internet marketers are thinking about their internet marketing.
Contextual Advertising gives you a chance to build up trust in the customer by showing them that you actually care about what they do for a living. That means that your customers actually care about your services and products, which is why you’re getting them to do business with you in the first place. It also means that you’re showing them you understand their need to be served by a local business.
When you build trust through contextual advertising, you show people that you value their services and that you care about their people’s needs. This in turn can lead to you being able to attract more new customers through local search. You can build relationships and trust with people that can extend beyond your local community.
If you’re a business owner, that’s the best kind of Internet marketing. You have to remember that most people aren’t going to shop locally – they want to find the easiest and quickest way to buy their products or services.
The first thing that you have to realize is that in order to get local traffic to your website, you have to compete in the local search engine results for your area or city. Sure, Google does provide local listings for your keyword – but what you really need is something that can actually get you there.
So, how can you get there? Well, Google offers two things: local placements and contextual advertising.
In order to get contextual placements, you simply have to have an online product or service that’s available to customers. You’ll find these all over the place – from Amazon to eBay, these businesses see the value in getting your business name in front of customers. But you have to actually offer something that your local market needs, and that’s all you need.
This means you need to offer something for your local customers that they need, and they can’t simply go to Google and find what they want. You need to target your customers and advertise specifically for people within your local area.
The first way that you can use contextual advertising is to link your local business listings to your listing in Google Places. So, when you’re promoting your online product or service, you do so on your Google Places listing as well as your Facebook page, your local business listing, your newspaper advertisement, and so on.
